Shipping differences aside (which is a huge "aside"), I can totally see what you mean about the pacing and such. For me there was a change in pacing, in that at some point it became obvious that the OTP was going to be wrapped up and then I was like "ok just get on with it whatever", so that changed my position as a viewer a little bit. Since I actually watched it in like 2 days, it didn't really affect my investment (I was still very invested, just not the way that's nice), but I think it goes to show that despite my differences with canon the drama still captured me? Like, with Heartstrings there comes a point where the OTP just really rubs me the wrong way (when they started out so flawless, we could have had it aaaall ;__;), but then the show also drags like a motherfucker... And I never actually finished the show, because I'm constantly distracted by newer shinier things. So. Just putting it out there. You're Beautiful is not the worst through and through.
But yeah, I feel like with most dramas I have the 8 episodes of honeymoon phase and then idk if it's my attention that wavers or the pacing slows down or something but it's never as good as the first 8 episodes. (Except Reply 1997 because that was a unique watching experience when my entire being became consummated by the show /forever forever.)
