AZMLDJZMLJFMLZFJ YAY!!!!

Okay so. The drama is called 'Reply 1997' and it's basically sixteen episodes of gorgeous teen pain. And I mean, you know why we watch teen shows. Well this show is the reason we watch teen stuff. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you feel all the emotions in a way that's so physical it's fucking rude.

The plot is amazing, the writing is amazing. Everything wraps up so neatly. The pace is flawless (imo). The characterization okay, the motherfucking characterization. It's emotional character porn all the way.

And this show loves it's characters so much. SO MUCH. I'm still crying over it. There is character respect like I've rarely seen it and gah it's just beautiful.

And the characters. OMFG ALEX THE CHARACTERS. They make you fall in love with them so hard and there is no coming back from it. I haven't been so in love with an ensemble cast since Firefly (and um, I really really love that crew). I don't know it's just such an ensemble show. It's friendship, it's family, it's love, it's loss and these characters all come together to tell us their story. (Note : the family dynamics are basically flawless. Still not over it, tbh. What is this show.)

The lead female is the most endearing fangirl ever, so fierce and vulnerable and her gender role performance is glorious (tbh the whole show has A+ gender role awareness in the writing). And when I tell you that she's a fangirl? She is a fangirl alright. And the show loves her for it. It still blows my mind.

And the LGBT character might be one of my favorite characters/characterizations of all times. Nothing has ever come close to this for me because of how much the show loves the character. It's absolutely gorgeous. And so painful you will want to scratch your eyes out.

I would like to highlight this part again : this show wants to hurt you and it hurts you good.

I really don't want to spoil you about the plot or give or any more about the characters/dynamics, because it all unravels so gorgeously on the show (and you should experience all the heartache full force, no?). But yeah, basically : watch it watch it watch it and then come cry to me.

PS - the way this show does ships should be illegal.
PPS - the title has to do with the fact that most of the show are flashbacks set in/around 1997. Which is delightful and presh and all things shiny because omfg how cute was technology back then?
